I am a nurse practitioner who has a passion for exercise and personal training. I have seen first hand how lack of exercise, poor nutrition, and stress leads to disease, anxiety and depression. I would like to use personal training and group fitness, mindful nutrition, and meditation to motivate my clients to live a healthy lifestyle based on their terms.

ABOUT NICOLE HAIRSTON


I have practiced nursing for 10 years and every day I see how inactivity and poor eating habits lead to obesity, disease and depression.

Depression is something I struggled with as well. I know discussions about mental health are often taboo, but I am compelled to share my story with you. After my divorce from my husband of 13 years, I was depressed and lost.

I lacked energy and didn’t have interest in the things I loved. I ate poorly or not at all. I didn’t work out for over a year. As a result, I gained weight, my skin broke out and I didn’t even recognize myself when I saw a picture that a coworker had taken of me.

Eventually, I went to the doctor because I was concerned that I was sick. My doctor ran a battery of tests. I was certain that I would hear some negative health news about me having a thyroid problem or some other serious disease. Surprisingly, all of the tests came back negative. There was nothing physically wrong with me and I was shocked.

What I realized was that I was simply depressed and living an unhealthy lifestyle. At that point I understood that in order to get better and feel better about myself, a big lifestyle change needed to be made.  I was tired of being tired, so I became MPowered to change and live a better life!

I began to move more and exercise daily. I ate mindfully instead of mindlessly. Weekly meditation became part of my life.  As a result, I became more energetic, lost weight, trimmed inches of fat and my skin began to glow. My confidence rose to new heights and most importantly, I found my smile again.

I took it one day at a time and the momentum took over. I was happy, healthy, looking good and feeling better. People started to take notice of my lifestyle change and new-found positivity.

My family began asking me for fitness advice. Friends wanted me to train them. Even strangers would stop me to ask if I was a trainer or health coach.

I listened to my intuition. The universe was showing me that I am meant to motivate and guide others to reach their health and fitness goals, using the same methods that I used to Mpower myself:

  • Movement
  • Mindful Nutrition
  • Motivation
  • Meditation

I shared my new way of living with the people around me and saw their lives change as well.  Since then, I have been dedicated to sharing my fitness methods to help others better their lives. Here is Mpowered Life and Fitness.
